Techtorium Covid response update and policy on Covid-19 Vaccinations

For the remainder of 2021, all programmes of study including both full-time diploma classes and short courses will be delivered through our connected classes and not onsite at our campus in Newmarket. Staff will not be onsite for the rest of the year unless required, and the office will remain closed. Staff will be available until the 23rd of December via phone and email if you need to contact us.

The health and wellbeing of our students and staff at Techtorium remain a top priority. From 2022 all students, visitors, contractors and staff will also be required to show evidence of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before coming on site. For vaccinated full time students, this means that you will be able to come on-site for classes and activities as normal.  For students who are not vaccinated, you will still be able to attend classes through the connected classes programme.

School students are exempt from providing evidence of vaccination status when accessing any of our secondary school course offerings onsite. Health and safety measures will be taken to ensure that staff and students are safe and will follow guidance and recommendation from the government and schools on how we can operate safely.

All visitors and secondary school students attending a meeting, interview, class or information session at Techtorium’s Newmarket campus will be required to present a mobile or printed New Zealand vaccination certificate (My Vaccine Pass) with a valid form of ID (either a drivers licence, passport or school ID). A Techtorium staff member will then check your vaccination status using the NZ Pass Verifier app. Techtorium reserves the right to deny entry to its Newmarket campus if it feels the visitor or student does not comply with the requirements of a vaccination certificate.

Note, the vaccination cards (the purple card you received at your first appointment) is not proof of your vaccination status.

For visitors (other than Secondary School students) that are unable to get the Pfizer vaccine for medical reasons, you will still be unable to visit Techtorium. There is an exemption process to get your My Vaccine Pass. You will need to talk to your doctor and they will apply on your behalf.

Although visitors aged 12 years old or under do not need to present a vaccination pass; we highly recommend that they do not visit Techtoriums Newmarket campus.

Techtorium will be open again from the 5th of January with staff back onsite. If you intend on visiting us, you will need to be vaccinated and follow the red traffic light rules, click the link here to find out how Techtorium will be operating under the red traffic light system.

FAQs

What is Techtoriums decision on mandating vaccinations?

TECHTORIUM’s priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and the community. Vaccines are the most effective means for protecting against COVID-19, particularly as restrictions are lifted and life in New Zealand returns to relative normality. Techtoriun will follow the Government Traffic Light Protective Framework (Red, Orange, Green), and respond to the Government requirements outlined by each of those traffic light phases.

The Government is not going to mandate vaccinations for attending on-site tertiary education for secondary school students beyond the requirements announced for the Red level of the COVID-19 Protection Framework. The Red level of the COVID-19 Protection Framework requires students and staff attending on-site delivery to be vaccinated, with a capacity based on one-metre distancing.

As restrictions are lifted, our preference is to return to on-campus teaching, as soon as possible.

Can i still study at Techtorium if I am not vaccinated?

Yes! You will be able to study with us full-time, but you will only be able to do so via our connected classes. You will still receive the same level of support and guidance during your studies and will have access to all the same resources.

How will I prove my vaccination status?

You will be required to present a mobile or printed New Zealand vaccination certificate (My Vaccine Pass) and a valid form of ID (either a drivers licence, passport or school ID). A Techtorium staff member will then check your vaccination status using the NZ Pass Verifier app.

Can I still enroll in 2022 for full-time tertiary studies if I do not get vaccinated?

Yes, you are more than welcome to apply. We will accept students regardless of vaccination status, but due to the government rules, you will not be able to study onsite, only via our connected classes.

Can secondary school students still study on Techtorium's secondary school courses?

School students are exempt from providing evidence of vaccination status when accessing any of our secondary school course offerings onsite. Health and safety measures will be taken to ensure that staff and students are safe and will follow guidance and recommendation from the government and schools on how we will operate safely.
